To accommodate families with different preferences and budgets, families will book their own accommodations. We recommend staying in the Glyfada area which has numerous hotels and rentals and will be closer in proximity to the camp venue than staying in Athens. Please contact us if you would like a list of hotels in the area.
-
Air Travel
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (airport code: AIA) is a major regional flight hub and only a 30-minute drive from our hotels in Glyfada.
Ground Transportation
Families will coordinate their own transportation (besides the two coach buses to Cape Sounion and Ancient Olympia). Driving in Athens is straightforward, and rental cars with automatic transmissions are readily available. Ubers and other RideShare programs are very affordable for those that do not want to drive.
-
At a minimum, fencers must have 2 years of experience and be 9-years-old or above. Fencers will be divided into groups by age/experience level for portions of the camp.
-
Private lessons will be available (up to 2 per camper at this time) and in high demand. They will likely fill up well in advance of the camp date. Sign-up for lessons will not be available until registration and full payment are complete, and priority will be given to early registrations.
Ancient Olympia Tour
The site of the ancient Olympics is a 3.5 hour bus drive away from the Athens Riviera. Our group will bus together and spend an evening just outside of Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The next morning, we will tour the archaeological site and visit the International Olympic Academy to learn more about the Olympic Movement. Following our tours and lunch, we will return in the afternoon to the Athens Riviera for the remainder of our camp.

Cape Sounion and Temple of Poseidon Medal Ceremony
Following our camp tournament, campers and families will travel to Cape Sounion by organized coach bus which is about 1 hour from the Athens Riviera. We will hold our medal ceremony below the Temple of Poseidon, swim and enjoy the sunset at the beaches just below, and eat at one of the many restaurants right on the water.
